Some classics never go out of style. The Piña Colada is one of them. But at Moe’s Tavern, we love putting a local twist on global favourites. Enter the Gold Coast Colada: a creamy, tropical cocktail that combines Caribbean tradition with the rich, tropical notes of Aphro Nubi, paying homage to Ghana’s Gold Coast heritage.

This is a cultural conversation in a glass, a cocktail that tells a story of flavour, history, and creativity.

A Brief History of the Piña Colada

Originating in Puerto Rico, the Piña Colada is a symbol of tropical indulgence, with a creamy blend of rum, pineapple, and coconut that has captivated the world for decades. It’s a drink synonymous with beach bars, island vibes, and sunshine in a glass.

At Moe’s Tavern, we respect tradition, but we also see opportunity to infuse local ingredients, spirits, and culture into a globally beloved format.

Aphro Nubi Tropical Notes

Aphro Nubi brings a tropical edge to this twist, with notes of passionfruit, pineapple, and honey that complement the coconut milk and pineapple juice beautifully. Its smooth, fruity character balances the creaminess of the drink while adding depth and authenticity.

By combining Aphro Nubi with spiced honey syrup, we create layers of sweet, tropical, and slightly warming flavour, turning a classic into something distinctly African.

A Twist on a Classic

Calling it the Gold Coast Colada is more than a name change. It’s a nod to Ghana’s heritage while respecting the global Piña Colada tradition. The result is a cocktail that’s familiar enough to invite the first sip, yet unique enough to leave a lasting impression.

With every glass, you get the creamy, tropical comfort of the Caribbean, fused with the vibrant spirit of West Africa. A true conversation starter for bars, brands, and creatives alike.
