When cultures meet in a glass, magic happens. The Aphro Mojito is that magic. The Caribbean classic meets African heritage through the vibrant, tropical notes of Aphro Nubi.

At Moe’s Tavern, we love remixing traditions. It’s how we show that innovation doesn’t mean abandoning roots, just means evolving them. This cocktail is a refreshing fusion that tells two stories: one born in Havana, the other rooted in Ghana.

A Brief History of Aphro

If you’ve been following our journey, you already know;  Aphro is more than a spirit; it’s a movement.

Born in Ghana, Aphro Spirits reimagines ‘akpeteshie’, the traditional palm wine that once defied colonial bans and became a symbol of cultural resilience. Crafted from fermented palm sap and triple-distilled to perfection, Aphro embodies Pride, Passion, and Power, celebrating Africa’s time-honoured distillation craft in a modern, premium form.

And with Aphro Nubi, that heritage meets a new flavour expression: passionfruit, pineapple, and honey. It’s smooth, tropical, and layered, the perfect base for giving global classics a distinctly African rhythm.

A Short History of the Mojito

The Mojito was born in Cuba, where sugarcane, lime, and mint came together centuries ago to create one of the world’s most refreshing cocktails.

From dockside taverns to beach bars and hotel lounges, it’s a drink that’s travelled across generations. Light, balanced, and endlessly adaptable.

But at Moe’s Tavern, we wanted to see what happens when this Caribbean legend gets a West African soul.

A Twist on a Classic

Swap the rum for Aphro Nubi, and everything changes. The spirit’s tropical depth brings out a natural sweetness, while its notes of passionfruit, pineapple, and honey round off the citrus and mint for a more complex, flavourful experience. Add a touch of fresh pineapple for texture and brown sugar syrup for balance.

The Recipe

Aphro Mojito

  • 50ml Aphro Nubi

  • Fresh Mint Leaves

  • Fresh Pineapple (Few Chunks)

  • 25ml Fresh Lime Juice

  • 10ml Brown Sugar Syrup

  • Top with Soda Water

Method

  1. In a highball glass, gently muddle mint leaves and pineapple with brown sugar syrup.

  2. Add Aphro Nubi and lime juice, then fill the glass with ice.

  3. Top with soda water and give it a light stir.

  4. Garnish with a mint sprig and a wedge of pineapple.

Refreshing, aromatic, and unapologetically African.

Why It Matters?

For brands, the Aphro Mojito represents more than just flavour — it’s storytelling in liquid form. It’s proof that when two cultures collaborate, the result can feel both global and deeply personal.

At Moe’s Tavern, this cocktail marks the first chapter in our partnership with Aphro Spirits — blending creative direction, cultural storytelling, and mixology innovation to introduce African excellence to new markets.
