London Dry Gin is known for its clean, juniper-forward profile. It’s a classic for a reason. It’s versatile, aromatic, and a great match for floral and herbal flavours like elderflower and thyme. Add in a bit of pear purée and a cheeky dash of celery bitters, and you’ve got a modern twist that still feels timeless.

Purées are a great way to add texture and real fruit flavour to your cocktails. In Elder Grove, the pear purée adds smoothness and sweetness, while the elderflower brings a floral lift that’s hard to beat. And if you’re feeling bold, a few drops of celery bitters will add depth and a herbal snap that ties it all together.

Ingredients

• 40ml London Dry Gin

• 20ml Pear Purée

• 15ml Lime Juice

• 10ml Elderflower Cordial

• Dash of Celery Bitters (optional)

• 2–3 Thyme Sprigs

How to Make Elder Grove – Step by Step

1. Make your pear purée

  • Blend peeled ripe pears with a squeeze of lemon juice.

  • For extra sweetness, add a touch of vanilla syrup.

  • Bottle it and store in the fridge — it’ll last for up to a week.

2. Add all ingredients to a shaker

  • Pour in the gin, pear purée, lime juice, elderflower cordial, and (if using) a dash of celery bitters.

3. Shake well

  • Add ice and shake hard for about 15 seconds to fully chill and mix.

4. Double strain into a chilled Martini glass

  • This removes any pulp and keeps the texture silky smooth.

5. Garnish with a thyme sprig

  • Lay it gently across the top or stand it up for that fresh, herbaceous aroma.

Moe’s Tip

Adding lemon to your purée isn’t just for flavour — it also acts as a natural preservative, helping it last longer and stay bright in colour.
