12 Days of Drinkmas 🌺 Day 9: Sorrel Shiver

  • 1 min read

Sorrel is inseparable from Caribbean Christmas culture. Across Jamaica and the wider diaspora, sorrel drink signals the start of festive season — brewed, shared, and adjusted from household to household. Its sharpness, spice, and deep red colour make it instantly recognisable and culturally significant, far beyond just flavour.

Sorrel Shiver keeps that identity intact. Rather than overcomplicating the drink, rum reinforces its Caribbean roots, ginger amplifies warmth, and lime sharpens the finish. Shaking the drink instead of serving it still creates a colder, cleaner expression while respecting sorrel as the star. This is tradition presented with modern bar technique, not rewritten.

Ingredients

• 80ml Sorrel Drink

• 40ml Rum

• 10ml Lime Juice

• 10ml Ginger Syrup

Method

1. Shake all ingredients with ice.

2. Fine strain into a chilled glass.

✨Moe’s Tip

If the drink turns sweet, you’ve lost the point — sorrel should bite.
