12 Days of Drinkmas 🔥 Day 5: Spiced Date Toddy

- 1 min read
Hot toddies exist across multiple cultures, often blurring the line between comfort drink and home remedy. Whether built with whiskey, brandy, or rum, they’re traditionally designed to warm the body, calm the palate, and slow the pace of drinking. Spices, citrus peels, and natural sweeteners have always played a role, making toddies deeply personal and often tied to family or regional tradition.

The Spiced Date Toddy introduces date molasses as its foundation, pulling influence from Middle Eastern and North African flavour traditions where dates are central to both sweetness and nourishment. Paired with brandy and warming spices, the drink feels grounding rather than indulgent. It’s rich without being heavy, sweet without being cloying — a quiet, reflective cocktail made for late nights and low light.
Ingredients
• 40ml Brandy
• 20ml Date Molasses Syrup
• 120ml Hot Water
• Orange Peel
• Cardamom
• Cinnamon
Method
1. Build all ingredients in a heatproof glass.
2. Stir gently until fully combined.
3. Express orange peel oils over the top and drop in.
✨Moe’s Tip
Date molasses adds texture as well as sweetness — adjust water, not sugar.
